The telephone companies have since about 15 years worked on implementing a fully digital network called ISDN, Integrated Services Data Network. It is now available and can a. o. t. be used for a better Internet access. The normal ISDN-connection provides two data channels at 64 kbits/s each and one control channel of 16 kbits/s. There are special terminals that use ISDN for picture telephone services, and for instance in Germany there is a great interest in ISDN.
